Elite Athletes Rehabilitation
When your an elite athlete you will do everything in your power to gain a competitive edge.
Our elite athletes rehab programs are geared towards athletes who have
- A chronic injury
- Recurrent injuries in different areas of your body
- Showing signs of over training
What we do
When we have an elite athelete come to us for help we firstly look at their training plan, then we look at the injury and past history of injury. Finally we put them through functional movement tests.
We look at things differently
As an elite athlete you will have have mobility screen and strength testing before. We look at things completely differently. When you have chronic injury you must think outside of the box for a treatment strategey. We are in the complex injury specialists.
How are we differently
As was mentioned previous we ill strip your body’s system down to its core (literally). We look at everything and see how your body is communicating effectively with other parts of your body. Starting with your diaphragm, moving onto your pelvic floor, abdominal’s, neck stablisers and finally your upper and lower limbs.
What we look for is muscle activation in various positions that may be driving your pain through a compensation pattern that has been left over from a previous injury
Think what happens when you sprain your ankle- you develop a limp. Why? To move around and avoid pain or irritate the ankle.
When your ankle injury heals you may still be in this compensatory movement pattern causing your body to not function as one system efficiently. This is due to some muscles being facillitated (over working) and compensating for another muscle that is inhibited (under working).
Another example is when you hurt your back and try to bend forward. You try keep your back straight to “protect it”. Or you may hold your breath during a movement. These are all compensatory patterns that are left behind and drive your pain long after the original structure that was injured or inflamed has healed.
We look at injuries differently, we look at your bodies’ system, which is controlled by your Vestibular system, your Motor Cortex and your Cerebellum in the brain.
As physiotherapists look to treat your movement patterns to work in harmony with each other, not against each other in order to get the best our of your training and allow you to compete at the top level.
We make our assessment sports specific. Every sport is different so every rehab program we construct is designed with your sport in mind.
Be the best – let us help you get there
